FAQ & Resources

What type of client fits with Dan Carter Advisors?

We are focused on advising entrepreneurs and small business owners from start-up to growing their business. Our model has been applying innovative strategies to both individual and business clients to limit tax exposure. Most of our clients fall below $10 million in sales or $25 million in net worth. Though, we are happy to review every scenario and see if we are able to provide any value.

My accounting problems span several years.  Can you help?

We are often engaged by clients to help sort out issues that are from previous years and/or span several years. We work with clients to communicate the effectiveness, risks, costs and efficiencies of possible solutions on a regular basis.

I haven’t filed tax returns in several years. Can you help?

We can help. There are many regulations and time restraints on prior year returns that we are here to help weave you through and get you back on track with the taxing authorities. It is important to note that these time restraints can also prevent you from recovering a tax refund that was rightfully yours, so getting started on fixing these problems now is beneficial for multiple reasons.

Can you provide weekly or monthly bookkeeping services?

We do provide bookkeeping services at intervals based on our client’s needs. Often clients believe they need bookkeeping services at shorter intervals than they actually do and matching the interval needed can help reduce the costs for our clients, giving them the information they need to make better business decisions at a cost effective rate.

What will you need to get started?

It depends on your situation. We like to have a meeting with prospective clients to introduce ourselves, understand the client’s situation and ensure that the services we offer are the right fit for their situation. With almost all clients this involves getting copies of prior returns and/or financials statements to start, which helps guide us to the additional information we would need.

If the Michigan Department of Treasury or IRS contacts me regarding my return, will you be able to assist me?

Yes. In fact, it is often the first time a taxpayer engages a CPA. Tax notices are a normal part of the taxing system and can be intimidating to handle by yourself.
